The B.C. supply chain for heat pumps continues to grow to meet the constant demand for electric heat pumps. For the 12th ZEBx Tech Demo, we’ll be featuring the latest and greatest from Daikin, an industry heavyweight with 16 years of local representation.
Originally launched in 2009, the newest version of the Altherma series of heat pumps uses R-32 refrigerant and is competing in the Part 9 residential all-in-one arena. The Altherma 3 H HT is a compact solution with an extremely quiet outdoor unit that can produce up to 70 C hot water for space heating/cooling and domestic hot water use. Ideally suited for new construction, but also suitable for replacing some existing heating and hot water equipment, the Altherma 3 H HT does not require a refrigerant technician to install because the system includes a monobloc unit and distributes heat hydronically. It has a maximum coefficient of performance of 5.0 in ideal conditions and can operate down to -28 C.
